Until now, this was the time for fos\u00adsil and nuclear pow\u00ader plants, which flex\u00adi\u00adbly bal\u00adanced out volt\u00adage fluc\u00adtu\u00ada\u00adtions using reac\u00adtive pow\u00ader. With their dis\u00adcon\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion and the expan\u00adsion of renew\u00adables, which ensure more volatil\u00adi\u00adty in the grid, this indis\u00adpens\u00adable job is becom\u00ading vacant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How\u00adev\u00ader, one can\u00addi\u00addate for the vacan\u00adcy has already proven itself: the \u201cMechan\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly Switched Capac\u00adi\u00adtor with Damp\u00ading Net\u00adwork\u201d or MSCDN tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy. These five let\u00adters stand for an inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive plant that works with a mechan\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly switched capac\u00adi\u00adtor bank includ\u00ading a damp\u00ading net\u00adwork. \u201cIn the future, MSCDN sys\u00adtems will be increas\u00ading\u00adly need\u00aded to pro\u00advide capac\u00adi\u00adtive reac\u00adtive pow\u00ader or com\u00adpen\u00adsate volt\u00adage fluc\u00adtu\u00ada\u00adtions. Sechtem: Fit for more grid power<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MR\u2019s Pow\u00ader Qual\u00adi\u00adty divi\u00adsion and Omex\u00adom Umspan\u00adnwerke GmbH have fur\u00adther devel\u00adoped MSCDN for demand\u00ading high and extra-high volt\u00adage trans\u00admis\u00adsion grids, and sub\u00adsta\u00adtions of three of the four Ger\u00adman trans\u00admis\u00adsion sys\u00adtem oper\u00ada\u00adtors are already work\u00ading with it. In April of this year, the part\u00adners con\u00adnect\u00aded a GRIDCON\u00ae MSCDN sys\u00adtem for 380-kilo\u00advolt elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty to the grid at the Sechtem site of the oper\u00ada\u00adtor Ampri\u00adon. The sub\u00adsta\u00adtion in the Born\u00adheim dis\u00adtrict between Cologne and Bonn is an impor\u00adtant hub where var\u00adi\u00adous line cor\u00adri\u00addors meet \u2014 a favor\u00adable loca\u00adtion for grid con\u00adtrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of the Sta\u00adtions Depart\u00adment at Ampri\u00adon is sat\u00adis\u00adfied with the result: \u201cThe sys\u00adtem has been work\u00ading very reli\u00adably since com\u00admis\u00adsion\u00ading and the coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion with MR and Omex\u00adom was char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adized by a high degree of trust and an open, trans\u00adpar\u00adent exchange. We already know and val\u00adue each of the com\u00adpa\u00adnies as reli\u00adable part\u00adners from pre\u00advi\u00adous projects.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further MSCDN plants by 2030<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The MSCDN sys\u00adtem is a com\u00adpo\u00adnent of the mod\u00adern\u00adiza\u00adtion that has been under\u00adway in Sechtem for sev\u00ader\u00adal years, and fits into the sophis\u00adti\u00adcat\u00aded mix of sta\u00adt\u00adic and dynam\u00adic com\u00adpen\u00adsa\u00adtion mea\u00adsures.  The sta\u00adt\u00adic tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy, which can be switched either on or off, reg\u00adu\u00adlates the base load. \u201cThis applies to the MSCDN sys\u00adtem, which boosts volt\u00adage, as well as to volt\u00adage-reduc\u00ading choke coils that work with pow\u00ader\u00adful tap chang\u00aders from MR,\u201d explains Eich\u00adhoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dynam\u00adic sys\u00adtems such as STATCOM (pow\u00ader con\u00advert\u00aders) and rotat\u00ading phase shifters con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous\u00adly and flex\u00adi\u00adbly reg\u00adu\u00adlate the remain\u00ading, tem\u00adporar\u00adi\u00adly chang\u00ading load. In addi\u00adtion to the ren\u00ado\u00adva\u00adtion of the entire sub\u00adsta\u00adtion in Sechtem, new trans\u00adform\u00aders were also installed there to cope with the ener\u00adgy tran\u00adsi\u00adtion and the grow\u00ading demand for elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty. Ampri\u00adon uses a com\u00adpre\u00adhen\u00adsive trans\u00adformer mon\u00adi\u00adtor\u00ading sys\u00adtem to mon\u00adi\u00adtor, renew and expand its trans\u00adformer fleet. Growth is not only cer\u00adtain at this point, announces Dr. Eich\u00adhoff: \u201cThe MSCDN sys\u00adtem in Sechtem was not our first and not our last.
