The Bel\u00adgian trans\u00admis\u00adsion sys\u00adtem oper\u00ada\u00adtor Elia wants to build it 45 kilo\u00adme\u00adters off the coast of Bel\u00adgium. Con\u00adstruc\u00adtion is sched\u00aduled to start as ear\u00adly as 2024. When the project is com\u00adplet\u00aded in 2030, 3.5 gigawatts of elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty will be pro\u00adduced in the region around the island on an area of around 285 square kilo\u00adme\u00adters. This will flow via sub\u00adma\u00adrine cable to the Bel\u00adgian main\u00adland but also to the ener\u00adgy island off Thors\u00adminde and to the Unit\u00aded King\u00addom.
