If you want to take a look into the future of the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty grid, you can do so in the \u0150rmez\u0151 dis\u00adtrict of Budapest. The E.ON Hung\u00e1ria Group opened a ful\u00adly auto\u00admat\u00aded sub\u00adsta\u00adtion there in Sep\u00adtem\u00adber 2024, which will sup\u00adply around 22,000 cus\u00adtomers with elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty and will also cov\u00ader the needs of new\u00adly relo\u00adcat\u00aded indus\u00adtri\u00adal cus\u00adtomers and a planned hos\u00adpi\u00adtal in the future. S\u00e1n\u00addor Farkas, grid tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy senior expert at the E.ON Hung\u00e1ria Group, explains: \u201cIn order to ensure ener\u00adgy secu\u00adri\u00adty in the future, we are invest\u00ading heav\u00adi\u00adly in the mod\u00adern\u00adiza\u00adtion and expan\u00adsion of the grids. The \u0150rmez\u0151 sub\u00adsta\u00adtion is a good exam\u00adple of this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invest\u00adments like these are urgent\u00adly need\u00aded. In Budapest alone, almost half of the trans\u00adformer sta\u00adtions are already oper\u00adat\u00ading at 80 per\u00adcent capac\u00adi\u00adty, and in some cas\u00ades even 100 per\u00adcent. And accord\u00ading to esti\u00admates by the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan Min\u00adistry of Ener\u00adgy, the country\u2019s elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty con\u00adsump\u00adtion will increase from the cur\u00adrent 44 ter\u00adawatt hours (TWh) to almost 60 in 2030. \u201cIn Hun\u00adgary, we are in a process of rein\u00addus\u00adtri\u00adal\u00adiza\u00adtion. New bat\u00adtery fac\u00adto\u00adries are being planned and the auto\u00admo\u00adtive indus\u00adtry also wants to invest heav\u00adi\u00adly. These are typ\u00adi\u00adcal sec\u00adtors with high elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty con\u00adsump\u00adtion,\u201d explains S\u00e1n\u00addor Farkas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand from pri\u00advate con\u00adsumers will also rise steadi\u00adly in the com\u00ading years as the num\u00adber of elec\u00adtric cars increas\u00ades and more and more house\u00adholds install heat pumps or split air con\u00addi\u00adtion\u00ading sys\u00adtems. At the heart of the sys\u00adtem are two dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adized trans\u00adform\u00aders from the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ader GANZ Trans\u00adform\u00aders and Elec\u00adtric Rotat\u00ading Machines Ltd. Brand Man\u00adag\u00ader of GANZ Intel\u00adli\u00adgent Solu\u00adtions G\u00e1bor Farkas, who is respon\u00adsi\u00adble for dig\u00adi\u00adtal solu\u00adtions at the trans\u00adformer, explains: \u201cWe devel\u00adoped a tai\u00adlor-made pack\u00adage of intel\u00adli\u00adgent solu\u00adtions for the trans\u00adform\u00aders. This is the first time that this tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy has been used in Hun\u00adgary. \u201cThe dig\u00adi\u00adtal twin can be used to sim\u00adu\u00adlate poten\u00adtial over\u00adload sce\u00adnar\u00adios, for exam\u00adple. Cooperation with MR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to offer solu\u00adtions like these, GANZ was one of the first cus\u00adtomers to enter into a dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion part\u00adner\u00adship with MR three years ago. The result of this joint effort is now known as GANZ Intel\u00adli\u00adgent Solu\u00adtions. The basis for this is ETOS\u00ae and the under\u00adly\u00ading ISM\u00ae platform\u2013an open sys\u00adtem solu\u00adtion for the dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion of pow\u00ader trans\u00adform\u00aders devel\u00adoped by MR and spe\u00adcial\u00adly adapt\u00aded to the needs of GANZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks to the intel\u00adli\u00adgent solu\u00adtion, our pow\u00ader trans\u00adform\u00aders can be oper\u00adat\u00aded with a high\u00ader degree of uti\u00adliza\u00adtion and have a longer ser\u00advice life,\u201d says G\u00e1bor Farkas. The long-estab\u00adlished Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan com\u00adpa\u00adny has already deliv\u00adered around 60 intel\u00adli\u00adgent trans\u00adform\u00aders, and over 95 per\u00adcent of its total pro\u00adduc\u00adtion is now equipped with dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion solu\u00adtions. \u201cThe col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion with MR has brought us clos\u00ader to our goal of devel\u00adop\u00ading from a prod\u00aduct sup\u00adpli\u00ader to a solu\u00adtion provider,\u201d explains G\u00e1bor Farkas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Into The Digital Future with Retrofits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

S\u00e1n\u00addor Farkas is very sat\u00adis\u00adfied with the GANZ solu\u00adtion: \u201cThe pos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties offered by the GANZ sys\u00adtem are very promis\u00ading. In par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar, the load mon\u00adi\u00adtor\u00ading and, of course, the fact that every autho\u00adrized per\u00adson can access the trans\u00adformer data con\u00adve\u00adnient\u00adly from the office via their lap\u00adtop, offers con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adable advan\u00adtages.\u201d But the sub\u00adsta\u00adtion in \u0150rmez\u0151 is just the begin\u00adning. Step by step, the E.ON Hung\u00e1ria Group wants to dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adize its entire trans\u00adformer fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy merg\u00ading our sub\u00adsidiaries North and South Trans\u00addanu\u00adbia with the elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty sup\u00adpli\u00ader ELM\u00dc, the total num\u00adber of our trans\u00adform\u00aders has risen from 200 to 300 in just a few years. And accord\u00ading to our fore\u00adcast, the num\u00adber will increase to around 400 by the end of this decade. This nat\u00adu\u00adral\u00adly makes oper\u00ada\u00adtions more com\u00adplex,\u201d says S\u00e1n\u00addor Farkas. More\u00adover, there is no way around dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion for per\u00adson\u00adnel rea\u00adsons alone: \u201cWe do have our own diag\u00adnos\u00adtics depart\u00adment, but its capac\u00adi\u00adty is lim\u00adit\u00aded,\u201d says S\u00e1n\u00addor Farkas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In con\u00adtrast, prices for mon\u00adi\u00adtor\u00ading sys\u00adtems have fall\u00aden and their lead times are only a few months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trans\u00adformer man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ader expects inter\u00adest in dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion to con\u00adtin\u00adue to grow and has there\u00adfore recent\u00adly launched a new solu\u00adtion on the mar\u00adket, the GANZ Expert Sys\u00adtem, which takes fleet man\u00adage\u00adment to a high\u00ader lev\u00adel. \u201cThe new Expert Sys\u00adtem pro\u00advides asset man\u00adage\u00adment with even more pre\u00adcise infor\u00adma\u00adtion about the con\u00addi\u00adtion of the equip\u00adment and at the same time pro\u00advides rec\u00adom\u00admen\u00adda\u00adtions for action for the entire con\u00adnect\u00aded trans\u00adformer fleet,\u201d says G\u00e1bor Farkas.
