A yel\u00adlowed beer coast\u00ader bears wit\u00adness to the first cus\u00adtomer train\u00ading ses\u00adsion \u2013 back in 1976 in Regens\u00adburg. On that July day, so the sto\u00adry goes, an Rein\u00adhausen employ\u00adee shared impor\u00adtant tech\u00adni\u00adcal knowl\u00adedge and skills. A cus\u00adtomer then wrote a few lines of thanks. This memen\u00adto can still be found today in a small dis\u00adplay case with a glass lid at the Regens\u00adburg train\u00ading cen\u00adter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name of this employ\u00adee: Man\u00adfred B\u00f6hm. He was a ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcian at the time and, on his own ini\u00adtia\u00adtive some 50 years ago, orga\u00adnized a few OILTAP\u00ae<\/sup> C, D, and F type high-speed resis\u00adtor-type tap-chang\u00aders from pro\u00adduc\u00adtion so that he and his col\u00adleagues could stay up to date on main\u00adte\u00adnance issues and learn to make the right deci\u00adsions in the field. They used the breaks between cus\u00adtomer vis\u00adits for this pur\u00adpose. Back then, they had only a cor\u00adner in the assem\u00adbly area at their dis\u00adpos\u00adal to tin\u00adker with the tap chang\u00aders. Soon, cus\u00adtomers also became inter\u00adest\u00aded in learn\u00ading the tech\u00adni\u00adcal details and how the tap chang\u00aders worked.<\/p>\n\n\n

Fifty years ago, a cus\u00adtomer wrote a thank-you note on a beer coast\u00ader for their first train\u00ading ses\u00adsion at Rein\u00adhausen. The begin\u00adning of a suc\u00adcess sto\u00adry.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

And so the idea arose to set up a pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal train\u00ading cen\u00adter. On the one hand, to pro\u00advide ongo\u00ading train\u00ading for MR\u2019s own ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcians to ensure a con\u00adsis\u00adtent\u00adly high stan\u00addard of main\u00adte\u00adnance and ser\u00advice world\u00adwide. On the oth\u00ader hand, to give cus\u00adtomers the oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to train their own ser\u00advice per\u00adson\u00adnel so they can bet\u00adter under\u00adstand the com\u00adplex prod\u00aducts and solu\u00adtions and use them safe\u00adly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exhibits spanning approximately 1,000 m2<\/sup><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, at the pro\u00adduc\u00adtion site in the Haslbach dis\u00adtrict of Regens\u00adburg, more than 300 exhibits are gath\u00adered across near\u00adly 1,000 square meters to serve as train\u00ading objects for hands-on train\u00ading. In addi\u00adtion to all types of tap chang\u00aders \u2014 most of which date from the last cen\u00adtu\u00adry \u2013 there are also motor dri\u00adves, elec\u00adtron\u00adic prod\u00aducts, and trans\u00adform\u00aders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A film stu\u00addio for video learn\u00ading con\u00adtent and a web stu\u00addio for dig\u00adi\u00adtal train\u00adings are now part of the facil\u00adi\u00adty as well. Up to six groups of trainees can learn on site simul\u00adta\u00adne\u00adous\u00adly at large work\u00adbench\u00ades and in var\u00adi\u00adous class\u00adrooms, and a wide range of cours\u00ades for MR tech\u00adni\u00adcians, ser\u00advice part\u00adners, and cus\u00adtomers are offered. The sev\u00ader\u00adal-month-long train\u00ading pro\u00adgram for MR tech\u00adni\u00adcians, for exam\u00adple, begins with a two-week basic train\u00ading course, fol\u00adlowed by prod\u00aduct-spe\u00adcif\u00adic train\u00ading ses\u00adsions with a final exam and cer\u00adtifi\u00adcate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All sev\u00aden train\u00aders at the facil\u00adi\u00adty have many years of pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal expe\u00adri\u00adence in the field. Man\u00adfred Schafhauser is one of them. He com\u00adplet\u00aded his train\u00ading as an indus\u00adtri\u00adal elec\u00adtri\u00adcian at MR at the age of 16. Now 63, he smiles as he recalls: \u201cBack then, I was told I\u2019d prob\u00ada\u00adbly have to change careers five times over the course of my life. I remem\u00adber not being thrilled by that prospect at first, but that\u2019s exact\u00adly how it turned out.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After com\u00adplet\u00ading his train\u00ading, he became a ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcian and worked all over the world on behalf of Rein\u00adhausen for 20 years. As a result, Schafhauser is famil\u00adiar with vir\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly every sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion an MR ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcian might encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2007, he decid\u00aded to pass on his knowl\u00adedge to oth\u00ader ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcians. \u201cSince then, I no longer trav\u00adel to cus\u00adtomers \u2013 they come to me,\u201d says Schafhauser with satisfaction.He now works as part of a seve n\u2011person train\u00ader team in day-today oper\u00ada\u00adtions and on the fur\u00adther devel\u00adop\u00adment of the train\u00ading cen\u00adter. This also involves con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading his own edu\u00adca\u00adtion and delv\u00ading into new prod\u00aducts: \u201cOnly when I myself know exact\u00adly what I need to do can I teach it to oth\u00aders,\u201d says Schafhauser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand is enormous<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the past 50 years, MR\u2019s ser\u00advice team has grown world\u00adwide from 22 to around 360. Dur\u00ading the same time, a wide vari\u00adety of prod\u00aducts have been installed in trans\u00adform\u00aders all over the world. This has led to high demand for train\u00ading and con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading edu\u00adca\u00adtion for skilled work\u00aders. As a result, the Ger\u00adman train\u00ading cen\u00adter, for exam\u00adple, is already ful\u00adly booked through the end of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of the rea\u00adsons why Rein\u00adhausen decen\u00adtral\u00adized the train\u00ading cen\u00adter con\u00adcept and rolled it out inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal\u00adly. Now, knowl\u00adedge can be shared in five addi\u00adtion\u00adal cer\u00adti\u00adfied and mod\u00adern train\u00ading cen\u00adters around the world. In Chi\u00adna, Brazil, the U.S., Malaysia, and South Africa, Rein\u00adhausen is now train\u00ading spe\u00adcial\u00adists who are nev\u00ader far from cus\u00adtomers in their respec\u00adtive coun\u00adtries. The dig\u00adi\u00adti\u00adza\u00adtion of learn\u00ading con\u00adtent as well as new tools also help ensure that as many peo\u00adple as pos\u00adsi\u00adble ben\u00ade\u00adfit from train\u00ading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital training center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That is exact\u00adly what Ker\u00adstin Fal\u00adter\u00admeier is respon\u00adsi\u00adble for. She is strate\u00adgi\u00adcal\u00adly in charge of dig\u00adi\u00adtal train\u00ading con\u00adcepts and is work\u00ading on a dig\u00adi\u00adtal train\u00ading cen\u00adter. To this end, she fre\u00adquent\u00adly attends trade fairs, net\u00adwork\u00ading events, and oth\u00ader gath\u00ader\u00adings to stay informed about dig\u00adi\u00adtal solu\u00adtions, new tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies, and strate\u00adgies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor exam\u00adple, work\u00ading with CAD mod\u00adels to dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adly break down a tap chang\u00ader into its indi\u00advid\u00adual com\u00adpo\u00adnents. Or the ear\u00adly attempts to use AI-pow\u00adered train\u00ading videos not only to trans\u00adlate into dif\u00adfer\u00adent lan\u00adguages, but to actu\u00adal\u00adly have the train\u00ader speak the lan\u00adguages \u2013 with per\u00adfect lip sync,\u201d says Fal\u00adter\u00admeier.<\/p>\n\n\n

The trainee may be in a dif\u00adfer\u00adent world, but he is in a sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion he fre\u00adquent\u00adly encoun\u00adters as a ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcian: It must be ensured that the trans\u00adformer is tru\u00adly switched off and that no volt\u00adage is present.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

If a new solu\u00adtion might be promis\u00ading for Reinhausen\u2019s train\u00ading cen\u00adters, she con\u00adducts fur\u00adther research, runs tests, and eval\u00adu\u00adates whether the solu\u00adtion offers added val\u00adue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newest inno\u00adva\u00adtion \u2013 vir\u00adtu\u00adal real\u00adi\u00adty (VR) train\u00ading \u2013 was intro\u00adduced in 2026 and is cur\u00adrent\u00adly being used by a group of six. They are cur\u00adrent\u00adly doing the two-week basic train\u00ading dur\u00ading which they learn safe\u00adty rules, among oth\u00ader things, and VR allows them to prac\u00adtice the rules hands-on. While one of the par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants wears a head\u00adset and com\u00adpletes tasks, the oth\u00aders fol\u00adlow along on tablet screens. \u201cIn vir\u00adtu\u00adal train\u00ading, tasks can be per\u00adformed through hand move\u00adments,\u201d explains Ker\u00adstin Fal\u00adter\u00admeier as she assists the learn\u00ading group with tech\u00adni\u00adcal ques\u00adtions about the pro\u00adgram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nev\u00ader\u00adthe\u00adless, it remains impor\u00adtant that mod\u00adels can be han\u00addled and phys\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly dis\u00adas\u00adsem\u00adbled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closeness and trust matter <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to dig\u00adi\u00adtal train\u00ading for\u00admats, learn\u00ading is pos\u00adsi\u00adble any\u00adtime and any\u00adwhere. The Rein\u00adhausen train\u00ading plat\u00adform offers e\u2011learning mod\u00adules for self\u00ads\u00adtudy; AI-gen\u00ader\u00adat\u00aded ques\u00adtions pre\u00adpare par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants for the\u00ado\u00adret\u00adi\u00adcal exams; and in train\u00ading videos, train\u00aders speak flu\u00adent\u00adly in every con\u00adceiv\u00adable lan\u00adguage with the sup\u00adport of AI. \u201cThat makes a huge dif\u00adfer\u00adence,\u201d Man\u00adfred Schafhauser adds. \u201cWith com\u00adplex con\u00adtent, it\u2019s an advan\u00adtage to con\u00advey it in the respec\u00adtive native lan\u00adguage. Nev\u00ader\u00adthe\u00adless, the fam\u00adi\u00adly-like atmos\u00adphere for which the Rein\u00adhausen train\u00ading cen\u00adter is known will con\u00adtin\u00adue to play a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant role in the future \u2013 Fal\u00adter\u00admeier and Schafhauser are con\u00advinced of that. To this day, there are numer\u00adous guest books filled with entries and pho\u00adtos from train\u00ading par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants from all over the world. Guests leave their entries on a page of the book as a token of thanks and to be remem\u00adbered. Because here, dur\u00ading the train\u00ading ses\u00adsions last\u00ading sev\u00ader\u00adal weeks, it\u2019s not just work-relat\u00aded con\u00adtent that\u2019s shared, but also a bit of cul\u00adture and a good time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
