T<\/span>he Gene\u00adva wheel is at the heart of every tap chang\u00ader: It reg\u00adu\u00adlates the tap-change oper\u00ada\u00adtion by break\u00ading down a uni\u00adform rota\u00adtion into indi\u00advid\u00adual steps. This requires two ele\u00adments: the slots and the exter\u00adnal con\u00adtour. The dri\u00advers engage with the slots and turn the Gene\u00adva wheel by a set angle. This is defined by the num\u00adber of slots: if, for exam\u00adple, the 360-degree rota\u00adtion is divid\u00aded into sec\u00adtions of 40 degrees, this pro\u00advides nine pos\u00adsi\u00adble steps. The round\u00aded areas on the out\u00ader sides of the wheel limbs, also known as the lock\u00ading con\u00adtour, pre\u00advent the wheel from con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading to rotate in an uncon\u00adtrolled man\u00adner in the rest phas\u00ades.

\nThe Gene\u00adva wheel must work reli\u00adably for the entire life of the on-load tap-chang\u00ader and must be absolute\u00adly wear-proof. In the ECOTAP VPD, the Gene\u00adva wheel is not in oil, so the require\u00adments regard\u00ading cor\u00adro\u00adsion resis\u00adtance are high. That\u2019s why we use a spe\u00adcial brass alloy.<\/p>\n
