The three men met to dis\u00adcuss pos\u00adsi\u00adble mobile test solu\u00adtions. For a num\u00adber of years now, HIGHVOLT has been con\u00adstruct\u00ading trucks with inte\u00adgrat\u00aded test\u00ading tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy and sta\u00adt\u00adic fre\u00adquen\u00adcy con\u00advert\u00aders \u2013 equip\u00adment which can be used to con\u00adduct induced volt\u00adage tests or no-load loss mea\u00adsure\u00adments in the field, to name a cou\u00adple of exam\u00adples. Nor\u00admal\u00adly, oblig\u00ada\u00adtory tests of this kind require dis\u00adman\u00adtling the entire pow\u00ader trans\u00adformer, remov\u00ading the oil and trans\u00adport\u00ading the trans\u00adformer to a facil\u00adi\u00adty for test\u00ading, before bring\u00ading it back, replac\u00ading the oil, and recon\u00adnect\u00ading the equip\u00adment.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIf a trans\u00adformer can\u2019t come to the test facil\u00adi\u00adty, the test facil\u00adi\u00adty goes to the trans\u00adformer.\u201d<cite>Kobus de Vil\u00adliers, MR South Africa <\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As Jochim explains: \u201cThis involves a lot of time and huge finan\u00adcial out\u00adlay, both of which can usu\u00adal\u00adly be avoid\u00aded by using a mobile test\u00ading sta\u00adtion.\u201d Test\u00ading trucks are the per\u00adfect solu\u00adtion for south\u00adern Africa \u2013 and to date there has been noth\u00ading in the wider area to pro\u00advide this ser\u00advice. On de Vil\u00adliers\u2019 order, two mobile sta\u00adtions were brought in \u2013 one for alter\u00adnat\u00ading cur\u00adrent, the oth\u00ader for direct cur\u00adrent \u2013 and Rein\u00adhausen set to work.<\/p>\n<h2>MOBILITY WITH DEPENDABILITY<\/h2>\n<p>After a few ini\u00adtial deploy\u00adments in the Johan\u00adnes\u00adburg area, the trucks will soon make their way to oth\u00ader coun\u00adtries in the region with ten Rein\u00adhausen experts on board. As de Vil\u00adliers puts it: \u201cThey will main\u00adly be used for stan\u00addard high volt\u00adage tests at pow\u00ader trans\u00adform\u00aders, which need to be car\u00adried out when a fault has been report\u00aded, after main\u00adte\u00adnance has tak\u00aden place, or before com\u00admis\u00adsion\u00ading.\u201d Now, trans\u00adform\u00aders will only be dis\u00adman\u00adtled and shipped off to a trans\u00adformer facil\u00adi\u00adty if they actu\u00adal\u00adly show signs of a defect \u2013 not as stan\u00addard prac\u00adtice.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpcmsdev-box\">\n<div class=\"box-content\">\n<h5>THESE TESTS ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE MOBILE TESTING STATION<\/h5>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>1. Nico De Jager, a city coun\u00adcilor respon\u00adsi\u00adble for infra\u00adstruc\u00adture, is excit\u00aded about the con\u00adcept: \u201cThese mobile high volt\u00adage tests are an extreme\u00adly cost-effec\u00adtive solu\u00adtion for us. As we can car\u00adry out appro\u00adpri\u00adate diag\u00adnos\u00adtics analy\u00adses based on the data they pro\u00advide, they also allow us to make more informed deci\u00adsions about the main\u00adte\u00adnance and repair work nec\u00ades\u00adsary for our high volt\u00adage trans\u00adform\u00aders. This means we can deliv\u00ader a more reli\u00adable sup\u00adply of pow\u00ader.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even the very first deploy\u00adment of one of the test\u00ading trucks in Johan\u00adnes\u00adburg attest\u00aded to this. A fault was report\u00aded in the net\u00adwork, but it was unclear whether a pow\u00ader trans\u00adformer was the cause of it. The Rein\u00adhausen truck swung into action and, after just a few days, dis\u00adcov\u00adered that the trans\u00adformer was com\u00adplete\u00adly intact \u2013 so the fault was locat\u00aded else\u00adwhere. As de Vil\u00adliers says: \u201cNor\u00admal\u00adly, the trans\u00adformer would have had to be dis\u00adman\u00adtled and test\u00aded at a facil\u00adi\u00adty \u2013 mean\u00ading months\u2019 worth of down\u00adtime. City Pow\u00ader would have had to spend in the region of 13 mil\u00adlion rand just to find out that every\u00adthing was okay.
