To be a trou\u00adbleshoot\u00ader at Rein\u00adhausen you need to be able to work effec\u00adtive\u00adly as both a team play\u00ader and a solo prac\u00adti\u00adtion\u00ader. When you sud\u00adden\u00adly get word that you\u2018re need\u00aded by a cus\u00adtomer from Cana\u00adda, South\u00adern Europe, or Africa \u2013 prefer\u00adably right away \u2013 then you nev\u00ader know exact\u00adly what\u2018s in store. You have to be ready for any\u00adthing. And as some\u00adone who was more drawn to mar\u00adtial arts than to team sports like foot\u00adball or bas\u00adket\u00adball in their youth, I am ful\u00adly pre\u00adpared for that. Indeed, I\u2018ve been prac\u00adtic\u00ading jiu-jit\u00adsu for over 20 years. That said, this doesn\u2018t mean that the peo\u00adple at Tech\u00adni\u00adcal Ser\u00advice oper\u00adate exclu\u00adsive\u00adly alone.<\/p>\n

You have to quick\u00adly gain an overview of the sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion, draw the right con\u00adclu\u00adsions, make the right deci\u00adsions, bal\u00adance the inter\u00adests of every\u00adone involved, be respon\u00adsive to ques\u00adtions as the des\u00adig\u00adnat\u00aded expert, and nat\u00adu\u00adral\u00adly do your job with\u00adout any errors. But when you\u2018re back at head\u00adquar\u00adters in Regens\u00adburg, you\u2018re back to being part of the Rein\u00adhausen fam\u00adi\u00adly, play\u00ading a key role in a strong team. When a steel\u00adworks goes down because the trans\u00adformer isn\u2018t work\u00ading, every minute counts. Time is mon\u00adey, as the say\u00ading goes. When I arrived, short\u00adly before it would have been time to clock off for the day, it was time for me to get to work. Thanks to our wealth of expe\u00adri\u00adence, we were able to draw the right con\u00adclu\u00adsions before depar\u00adture from the lit\u00adtle infor\u00adma\u00adtion at our dis\u00adpos\u00adal. As a result, we had the right spare parts with us and the trans\u00adformer was up and run\u00adning again.<\/p>\n

That\u2018s the first thing I tell new appli\u00adcants these days. Those who want to be back with their fam\u00adi\u00adlies at six o\u2018clock in the evening will not be hap\u00adpy in this job. If you can\u2018t deal with con\u00adstant time dif\u00adfer\u00adences, extreme changes in cli\u00admate, and high time pres\u00adsure, while also car\u00adry\u00ading out chal\u00adleng\u00ading phys\u00adi\u00adcal work in often dirty and unpleas\u00adant con\u00addi\u00adtions, then you will suf\u00adfer in this job.<\/p>\n

LUBUMBASHI\/CONGO:<\/h2>\n

After nearly 40 hours traveling we stood ankle-deep in oil<\/h3>\n

To show you what I mean, I\u2018ll tell you a sto\u00adry of a time I was whisked away to the Repub\u00adlic of the Con\u00adgo. For tourists, these jour\u00adneys have to be planned weeks in advance for the vac\u00adci\u00adna\u00adtions alone. We promise our cus\u00adtomers that we will endeav\u00ador to be any\u00adwhere in the world with\u00adin 24 hours for ser\u00advic\u00ading jobs. But that\u2018s not always pos\u00adsi\u00adble. The quick\u00adest route on this occa\u00adsion was by plane over Paris, Johan\u00adnes\u00adburg and Nairo\u00adbi to Lubum\u00adbashi and then by car a few hours togeth\u00ader with two ser\u00advice tech\u00adni\u00adcians from the Brazil\u00adian trans\u00adformer man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ader to arrive at the pri\u00adma\u00adry sub\u00adsta\u00adtion.<\/p>\n

After a trav\u00adel time of 36 hours, we were then tasked with going into the trans\u00adformer itself. Stand\u00ading ankle-deep in oil, we were faced with a prob\u00adlem: On the on-load tap-chang\u00ader, the screen\u00ading rings had been torn off and the insu\u00adla\u00adtion had become dam\u00adaged. We made the sleeves by hand, riv\u00adet\u00aded and insu\u00adlat\u00aded them, and thus we were able to fix the dam\u00adage overnight. We had to impro\u00advise, but the trans\u00adformer is still oper\u00adat\u00ading with this solu\u00adtion today. After 48 hours on my feet, I arrived at a hotel which didn\u2018t exact\u00adly have the same stan\u00addards as in Europe.<\/p>\n

The will\u00ading\u00adness to do these kinds of jobs also has its rewards. The indus\u00adtry is very small, so you will run into col\u00adleagues from all over the world again and again, thus cre\u00adat\u00ading a net\u00adwork and friend\u00adships all around the globe.
