But up in the turbine\u2019s rear hous\u00ading (known as a nacelle), where the trans\u00adform\u00aders are housed, huge forces are at play. The trans\u00adformer is sub\u00adject to con\u00adstant vibra\u00adtions and weath\u00ader-relat\u00aded tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture fluctuations\u2014not to men\u00adtion the fre\u00adquent vari\u00ada\u00adtions in load when wind strength changes as well as the high stress\u00ades from fre\u00adquen\u00adcy con\u00advert\u00aders. All this puts pres\u00adsure on the insu\u00adla\u00adtion, thus increas\u00ading the risk of cost\u00adly down\u00adtime for the entire instal\u00adla\u00adtion. <\/p>\n\n<p>Replac\u00ading and repair\u00ading the trans\u00adformer in the nacelle, which is very dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to access, is time-con sum\u00ading work. For this rea\u00adson, the experts at HIGHVOLT looked for a solu\u00adtion that would allow oper\u00ada\u00adtors or ser\u00advice providers to per\u00adform reg\u00adu\u00adlar on-site insu\u00adla\u00adtion inspec\u00adtions them\u00adselves in order to antic\u00adi\u00adpate dam\u00adage  in advance. The stan\u00addard meth\u00adods of achiev\u00ading this are the induced volt\u00adage test and par\u00adtial dis\u00adcharge diag\u00adnos\u00adtics. The prob\u00adlem is that there is hard\u00adly any space to con\u00adduct these in the turbine\u2019s nacelle.<\/p>\n<p>HIGHVOLT  has there\u00adfore  devel\u00adoped a portable test\u00ading sys\u00adtem that oper\u00ada\u00adtors or ser\u00advice providers can use to inspect the con\u00addi\u00adtion of the trans\u00adformer insu\u00adla\u00adtion direct\u00adly from the nacelle itself. The sys\u00adtem con\u00adsists of a fre\u00adquen\u00adcy con\u00advert\u00ader with a step-up trans\u00adformer con\u00adnect\u00aded in series, a par\u00adtial dis\u00adcharge fil\u00adter (PD fil\u00adter), and the mea\u00adsure\u00adment instru\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion. All com\u00adpo\u00adnents are housed in four com\u00adpact box\u00ades and can be installed quick\u00adly. <\/p>\n<p>The sys\u00adtem pro\u00advides suf\u00adfi\u00adcient pow\u00ader for the induced volt\u00adage test at all three phas\u00ades. Thanks to the design, the tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy achieves a very low par\u00adtial dis\u00adcharge lev\u00adel of less than ten pic\u00ado\u00adcoulombs. The mea\u00adsure\u00adment process is com\u00adplet\u00aded in less than an hour, so sys\u00adtem down\u00adtimes are kept to a min\u00adi\u00admum. If the sys\u00adtem detects an impend\u00ading sparkover, oper\u00ada\u00adtors can imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly intro\u00adduce coun\u00adter\u00admea\u00adsures  in  order  to  avoid  break-downs.
