A work\u00adshop in the Regens\u00adburg dis\u00adtrict of Rein\u00adhausen decides to start pro\u00adduc\u00ading its own cleav\u00ading frame saws for the wood indus\u00adtry rather than sim\u00adply pro\u00advid\u00ading repair parts. It becomes a bur\u00adgeon\u00ading busi\u00adness.<\/p>\n

In 1901, Andreas Scheubeck takes up the reins of the com\u00adpa\u00adny and gives it the name \u201cMaschi\u00adnen\u00adfab\u00adrik Rein\u00adhausen\u201d. The wood indus\u00adtry los\u00ades its momen\u00adtum after the First World War, but Scheubeck\u2019s sons Oskar and Richard (pic\u00adtured) keep the busi\u00adness run\u00adning by pro\u00adduc\u00ading spare parts for appli\u00adca\u00adtions such as bicy\u00adcles. They also begin exper\u00adi\u00adment\u00ading in the field of air\u00adcraft pro\u00adduc\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Dr. Bernhard Jansen<\/h3>\n

When Dr. Bern\u00adhard Jansen pre\u00adsent\u00aded a new switch prin\u00adci\u00adple in the 1920s, he cre\u00adat\u00aded waves in his field. For the very first time, this inven\u00adtion made it pos\u00adsi\u00adble to reg\u00adu\u00adlate the volt\u00adage in trans\u00adform\u00aders under load. The fact that today\u2019s tap chang\u00aders still work on the basis of this prin\u00adci\u00adple is tes\u00adta\u00adment to its strength \u2014 and with\u00adout it, the Rein\u00adhausen Group would nev\u00ader have exist\u00aded.<\/p>\n

So who is the man behind it all? The son of a mas\u00adter watch\u00admak\u00ader, Jansen was born on 31 August 1899 in Wissen\/Sieg, a town locat\u00aded in what is today the Ger\u00adman state of Rhineland-Palati\u00adnate. Even in his ear\u00adly days of edu\u00adca\u00adtion, he showed a real enthu\u00adsi\u00adasm for sci\u00adence. In 1919, he began study\u00ading mechan\u00adi\u00adcal and elec\u00adtri\u00adcal engi\u00adneer\u00ading at a tech\u00adni\u00adcal uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty in Hanover, before embark\u00ading on a career at the city\u2019s pow\u00ader plant. In 1928, aged just 29, Jansen became a board mem\u00adber of the Regens\u00adburg Oberp\u00adfalzw\u00aderke, a pow\u00ader com\u00adpa\u00adny that he went on to devel\u00adop into a cut\u00adting-edge ener\u00adgy sup\u00adpli\u00ader.<\/p>\n

He died in a road traf\u00adfic acci\u00addent on 15 Octo\u00adber 1958.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
