To enable wear-free switch\u00ading oper\u00ada\u00adtions, Rein\u00adhausen built the first hybrid tap chang\u00ader with a pow\u00ader elec\u00adtron\u00adic divert\u00ader switch for the Argen\u00adti\u00e8re alu\u00adminum smelter in France in 1974.
