Mega Service for a Megacity<\/h2>\n

To ensure that the lights never go out in Hong Kong, the city\u2019s largest grid operator is putting its trust in Reinhausen\u2019s service.<\/h5>\n

As soon as the last of the day\u2019s sun\u00adlight reflects in the sky\u00adscraper facades on the Pearl Riv\u00ader Delta and dusk sets in, Hong Kong trans\u00adforms into a shim\u00admer\u00ading sea of lights from myr\u00adi\u00adad sources. At night, it becomes clear what gives this megac\u00adi\u00adty its buzz dur\u00ading the day too: elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty. Around 80 per\u00adcent is sup\u00adplied by the Chi\u00adna Light and Pow\u00ader Com\u00adpa\u00adny, CLP for short, which was found\u00aded in 1901 and is the city\u2019s largest ener\u00adgy sup\u00adpli\u00ader.<\/p>\n

And this sup\u00adply is need\u00aded around the clock, every sin\u00adgle day. The absolute worst-case sce\u00adnario would be if the grid col\u00adlapsed and the most impor\u00adtant life\u00adline in this finance and com\u00admerce metrop\u00ado\u00adlis was sev\u00adered. Traf\u00adfic would come to a stand\u00adstill, goods sup\u00adplies would come to a halt, and lives would be put at risk. CLP there\u00adfore needs to be able to rely on its equip\u00adment one hun\u00addred per\u00adcent. An essen\u00adtial role is played by the pow\u00ader trans\u00adform\u00aders which are dis\u00adtrib\u00aduted across the city region and are equipped with around 400 tap chang\u00aders sup\u00adplied by Maschi\u00adnen\u00adfab\u00adrik Rein\u00adhausen (MR), for which CLP has now con\u00adclud\u00aded a com\u00adpre\u00adhen\u00adsive Ser\u00advice coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion with Rein\u00adhausen.<\/p>\n

A ser\u00advice engi\u00adneer from Regens\u00adburg came all the way to CLP in Hong Kong for the retro\u00adfitting work.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jason Au, a main\u00adte\u00adnance engi\u00adneer in the East & West Region who is also respon\u00adsi\u00adble for ser\u00advice projects at CLP, explains the sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion: \u201cMR has all the spare parts we need and offers a com\u00adpre\u00adhen\u00adsive ser\u00advice for over\u00adhaul\u00ading and retro\u00adfitting on-load tap-chang\u00aders, as well as trou\u00adbleshoot\u00ading in the event of an emer\u00adgency. MR is renowned for its excep\u00adtion\u00adal cus\u00adtomer ser\u00advice and its expe\u00adri\u00adenced and superbly trained tech\u00adni\u00adcians who are also up to speed on the require\u00adments of the pow\u00ader grid in Hong Kong.\u201d Sev\u00ader\u00adal exten\u00adsive retro\u00adfit projects have already been com\u00adplet\u00aded.<\/p>\n

A ser\u00advice engi\u00adneer from Regens\u00adburg retro\u00adfit\u00adted a total of 6 trans\u00adform\u00aders with divert\u00ader switch inserts from the VACUTAP\u00ae VM\u00ae series at the end of 2018. \u201cVac\u00adu\u00adum tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy from Rein\u00adhausen helps us to extend the ser\u00advice life of our trans\u00adform\u00aders. What\u2019s more, these tap chang\u00aders require vir\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly no main\u00adte\u00adnance. \u201cFrom a cost per\u00adspec\u00adtive, this is a key fac\u00adtor,\u201d states Jason Au and adds: \u201cA fur\u00adther advan\u00adtage of vac\u00adu\u00adum tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy is that much less insu\u00adla\u00adtion oil is required for the tap chang\u00aders due to the fact that they are vir\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly main\u00adte\u00adnance-free. This is excel\u00adlent news for our cli\u00admate objec\u00adtives, as in addi\u00adtion to costs, we are also look\u00ading to save on resources.\u201d<\/p>\n
