The city of Phoenix in the state of Ari\u00adzona is hot, hot, hot right now! And not just because of the tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adtures in the desert city, tells Steve Spragg, RM Man\u00adag\u00ader West Region: \u201cMany res\u00adi\u00addents of neigh\u00adbor\u00ading states such as Cal\u00adi\u00adfor\u00adnia move to Phoenix as a lot of jobs are being crea\u00adted here. Local com\u00adpa\u00adnies are expand\u00ading their busi\u00adness\u00ades and invest\u00ading bil\u00adlions. Phoenix is grow\u00ading expo\u00adnen\u00adtial\u00adly\u201d, Spragg reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So much influx and expan\u00adsion requires a lot of elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty. And it needs to flow safe\u00adly and reli\u00adably. There\u00adfore, the Mari\u00adco\u00adpa sub\u00adsta\u00adtion, locat\u00aded about 20 miles south of Phoenix, under\u00adwent a mas\u00adsive expan\u00adsion by Spragg and his team. \u201cOur crews spe\u00adcial\u00adize in all aspects of sub\u00adsta\u00adtion con\u00adstruc\u00adtion, as well as han\u00addling the over\u00adall man\u00adage\u00adment of the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why we got the con\u00adtract to build the sub\u00adsta\u00adtion from ground up.\u201d Spragg\u2019s sub\u00adsta\u00adtion con\u00adstruction com\u00adpa\u00adny for\u00admer\u00adly known as ESS has been ful\u00adly inte\u00adgrat\u00aded into the Rein\u00adhausen Group since 2016 and thus ben\u00ade\u00adfits from RM\u2019s high-qual\u00adi\u00adty equip\u00adment and exper\u00adtise. Spragg and his team coor\u00addi\u00adnat\u00aded the entire project in Mari\u00adcopa, from demo\u00adli\u00adtion to hand\u00ading over the keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The oper\u00ada\u00adtors of the sub\u00adsta\u00adtion, Elec\u00adtri\u00adcal Dis\u00adtrict No. 3 (ED3 for short), have worked with Steve Spragg and his team many times, says Mike Bris\u00adtol, Assis\u00adtant Gen\u00ader\u00adal Man\u00adag\u00ader at ED3: \u201cTime and again his team has demon\u00adstrated the nec\u00ades\u00adsary skillset, knowl\u00adedge, and reli\u00ada\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty to suc\u00adcess\u00adful\u00adly exe\u00adcute com\u00adplex projects from start to fin\u00adish.\u201d In order to per\u00adform the work on the sub\u00adsta\u00adtion, the entire sta\u00adtion had to be tem\u00adporar\u00adi\u00adly de-ener\u00adgized dur\u00ading the off-sea\u00adson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHir\u00ading a sin\u00adgle con\u00adtrac\u00adtor has proven to be the most cost-effec\u00adtive method of get\u00adting projects com\u00adplet\u00aded on time and with\u00adin bud\u00adget.\u201d<\/p>\nMike Bris\u00adtol, Assis\u00adtant Gen\u00ader\u00adal Man\u00adag\u00ader ED3<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

After demo\u00adli\u00adtion, the civ\u00adil mod\u00adi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions were com\u00adplet\u00aded, to allow for the instal\u00adla\u00adtion of the elec\u00adtri\u00adcal appa\u00adra\u00adtus: \u201cThe sub\u00adsta\u00adtion is becom\u00ading indis\u00adpens\u00adable for the region. That\u2019s why we showed a lot of com\u00admit\u00adment and invest\u00aded many Sat\u00adur\u00addays and man\u00adaged to com\u00adplete the project in about half a year.\u201d Bris\u00adtol is notice\u00adably pleased, \u201cWith their knowl\u00adedge and exper\u00adtise in the sub\u00adsta\u00adtion con\u00adstruc\u00adtion realm, we rest\u00aded assured that our project would be done cor\u00adrect\u00adly, and qual\u00adi\u00adty would nev\u00ader be spared. Mr. Spragg and his team have always main\u00adtained clear and open com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion.\u201d\u2002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dis\u00adman\u00adtling the old struc\u00adture, the instal\u00adla\u00adtion of the new foun\u00adda\u00adtions could be start\u00aded. Among oth\u00ader work, this includ\u00aded drilled piers and an oil catch basin around the 69\/12.5 kV trans\u00adformer, as shown in the pic\u00adture. Oth\u00ader work at the site includ\u00aded above and below grade con\u00adduit and ground\u00ading, as well as resur\u00adfac\u00ading of the yard. The rebuild of the facil\u00adi\u00adty will allow the trans\u00adformer to be ener\u00adgized and begin serv\u00ading cus\u00adtomers in the region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The site con\u00adsists of var\u00adi\u00adous elec\u00adtri\u00adcal equip\u00adment such as the 69\/12.5 kV trans\u00adformer, 69 kV dis\u00adcon\u00adnect switch\u00ades, 69 kV break\u00aders, 12 kV switchgear and bus\u00adwork. In the con\u00adtrol build\u00ading, new relay pan\u00adels, an AC\/DC sys\u00adtem with bat\u00adter\u00adies, and con\u00adtrol cables had to be mount\u00aded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
