Since March 2022, Reinhausen has been supplying customers in South America even faster: A new hub in Brazil makes this possible.
For Reinhausen, Brazil is a market with a lot of potential; but it is also highly competitive with numerous players in the market. “If you want to score points, you have to be fast,” says Ricardo Arrigoni. The native Brazilian is Business Development Manager at Reinhausen and is responsible to grow the local business with transformer instruments and accessories. With the support of colleagues from Brazil and from Germany he planned and accompanied the establishment of a so-called hub in the São Paulo region for this purpose.
The idea behind: Instead of sending transformer accessories from Europe to Brazil for individual customer orders as before, a local distribution center supplies customers in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay directly. “The advantages are obvious — we save on import duties, freight cost and at the same time we can respond more quickly to local customer requests,” Arrigoni notes.
This applies not only to new business with products such as silicone and porcelain bushings, but also to service and retrofit solutions. Arrigoni explains, “If our technician is already on site to perform maintenance on a tap changer, for example, then he can also check other transformer components and initiate a short-term replacement if necessary.” The transformer has already been switched off for this maintenance, so the additional effort is minimal. Since many standard parts are available in stock, they can be quickly prepared and installed. Even emergency service at short notice is now possible thanks to the new setup.
“We already have the experts on site, which is an enormous advantage for us.”
Ricardo Arrigoni, Business Development Manager at Reinhausen
MR do Brasil, the Brazilian branch, was founded in 1980 as the first foreign subsidiary and is perfectly strategically located just outside the metropolis of São Paulo. The hub is located in the MR do Brasil buildings, which allows the existing infrastructure and the expertise of the employees there to be used for all business segments.
In this way, the hub business also benefits from the decades of expertise of the 80 Brazilian employees. “We already have the experts on site, which is an enormous advantage for us,” emphasizes Arrigoni. “We started with the existing team and with the success from the first year we are now expanding to exploit the market potential and to develop business through our hub. ” The goal is clear: Reinhausen wants to gain further market share in South America and expand its product and service portfolio. Ricardo Arrigoni is confident: “Our colleagues on site have already proven that this venture was the right step,” he says with satisfaction.
