Energy transition, smart technologies, the future viability of electricity grids: The topics that drive the energy industry are diverse. With the video podcast “POWER ON—The Reinhausen Podcast,” MR offers a contemporary channel in which these topics are discussed and experts have their say.
Brrrrrzzzzzt – click! Even the intro to “POWER ON – The Reinhausen Podcast” reveals that excitement and enlightenment await the audience. This podcast is all about energy technology and the intriguing questions posed by the many people involved in it.
Podcast host Christian Schaider asks these questions to selected MR experts, who then shed light on the issues for the audience during the 20 to 30-minute episodes. The first season of the video podcast has been available on YouTube since January 2024, as well as in an audio-only format on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. A second season is already being planned.
The background
The initial idea for the podcast came from MR Head of Communications Otmar Reichmeyer: “We wanted to create a format that doesn’t lecture or advertise, but instead addresses the issues that concern the energy sector in informal conversations.”
MR Managing Director Wilfrid Breuer with Christian Schaider during the recording of the first episode.
After all, MR can do far more than on-load tap-changers. And why shouldn’t the experts responsible for this “more” share their knowledge with all interested parties? Once the idea had been turned into a concept, it was quickly put into practice last autumn.
And this proved that MR not only has experts in energy issues, but can also podcast: Apart from the support of an external sound engineer, everything was in the hands of a team of MR employees, steered by Anna-Lena Bayer and Christina Hechfellner, who as Digital Marketing Managers took on the role of project and production managers.
The host
When Christian Schaider talks about MR, you quickly realize that he is in his element. The choice of a suitable presenter for “POWER ON,” who could ignite the spark between the guests and the audience, was therefore quickly made. Through his activities on LinkedIn, the Business Development Manager of Service Solutions for the Asia-Pacific region and China had already made a name for himself as a corporate influencer.
“We have a variety of great solutions and so many great people and experts, and we shouldn’t hide that.”
What enables him to talk to his guests about hot topics in the energy sector? “I empathize with our customers and am very open,” he says about his authentic and interested way of questioning his counterparts. Being a face of MR to the outside world is easy for him, as he continues to be enthusiastic about the company at which he has worked for over 17 years: “We have a variety of great solutions and so many great people and experts, and we shouldn’t hide that.”
He also sees “POWER ON” as a contemporary medium that can be used to reach young talents: “It’s no longer the case today that you get advice from your grandfather: ‘Go to MR, it’s a good employer!’ Today, young people inform themselves, watch videos, and listen to podcasts.”
The feedback that the host and the podcast team have received on the first season has been consistently positive to exuberant (“Keep up the good work! It’s fantastic what you’re doing”) and motivates them to cover even more topics.
