Editorial: The Cleantech Edition

Dear Readers,

In addition to all the crises currently afflicting us around the world, the energy turnaround is a generational task to preserve our beautiful planet and the living environment with which we are accustomed. The sustainability of the energy supply has always been the focus of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, and is also the focus of this issue of ONLOAD.

In this issue we report on how our diverse portfolio of products and services helps our customers secure and improve reliable, sustainable power supplies. For example, our on-load tap-changers have been ensuring the optimum operating voltage in grids internationally and minimizing transmission losses for decades. I am also very pleased to present contributions to voltage regulation by reactive power compensation in the extra-high voltage networks. This is becoming even more necessary in the course of the expansion of renewable energies as replacements for conventional rotating power plant generators—a lesser-known requirement, as well as a lesser-known achievement of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, although we have been successfully involved in this solution business for over 25 years at our Erfurt location.

Although the production of our products is not very energy-intensive, we also want to continuously improve ourselves in this regard, and will also report on our measures to do so.

I wish you a pleasant read and invite you to accompany us through the coming changes

Your Wilfried Breuer
