Switch to digital now

A hundred years ago, the invention of the high-speed resistor-type tap-changer enabled efficient grid meshing. Today, MR is flipping the switch again—with digital solutions that modernize individual transformers and entire fleets, and optimally prepare new devices for future requirements.

While transformers are at the heart of the power supply, with the ever-increasing demand for electricity, they often reach their load limits. And while every overload puts the transformer at risk of failure, digital monitoring systems can precisely record utilization and predict how long an over-load is safe. In addition to aging equipment, due to demographic changes, more and more knowledge carriers are retiring who can determine at a glance where the problem lies with a transformer. This is exactly where MR’s digital solutions come in. They provide real-time information on three different levels to enable informed decisions to be made–step by step and individually customizable.

Flexible digital start

MR’s digital services are designed as a modular concept so that operators can start small and gradually expand to even more intelligence–or opt for the smart, all-inclusive package of digital sensors, operating system, and asset performance management software from the outset. MR has switched to digital and you can also flip the switch in your transformer fleet during the next maintenance. MR’s digitalization experts will help with installation and are available to answer any questions during operation.

Take a look behind the scenes with intelligent sensors

Whether it’s operating temperature, oil level, or gas content in the oil, with modern, digitally connected sensors, even the smallest changes in transformer operation can be detected at an early stage. From processing of specific measurement variables–for example, using MESSKO® COMPACT to measure oil temperature–to determining concentration ratios with MSENSE® DGA, the sensors collect important data that forms the basis for reliable monitoring and a long service life for your transformers. The MR experts actively support customers, from selecting the right equipment for the digital transformer to commissioning. With the successful installation of modern sensors, the first important step toward digitalization has been taken.

Easily digitize transformer information with ETOS®

ETOS® is a standardized and modular system solution for monitoring, controlling, regulating, and digitalizing power transformers. It is the world’s first open operating system for transformers which, thanks to its plug & play design, can communicate with a wide variety of sensors and be easily integrated into existing configurations. ETOS® collects measurement data from the sensors, interprets it, performs calculations, and outputs a digital overall assessment of the transformer. The voltage and temperature of the transformer can also be intelligently controlled as required. If several transformers are equipped with ETOS®, the next stage of digitalization can be “ignited.”

Keep track of your entire fleet with TESSA®APM

Asset performance management software solutions such as TESSA®APM offer advantages for operators who want to monitor their transformer fleets or compare their performance. The system continuously collects operating and sensor data, detects deviations at an early stage, and suggests targeted maintenance measures to avoid unplanned outages. TESSA®APM provides fact-based support to asset managers in implementing ISO 55001 by centrally providing all relevant condition data and risk assessments. Thanks to open interfaces, TESSA®APM can be easily integrated and operated both in the cloud and locally.
