Today, on-load tap-chang­er pro­duc­tion looks very dif­fer­ent from this his­tor­i­cal pho­to­graph tak­en in the Maschi­nen­fab­rik Rein­hausen work­shop. But the tech­ni­cal oper­at­ing prin­ci­ple of this rev­o­lu­tion­ary inven­tion has remained vir­tu­al­ly unchanged to this day. In 2026, MR will cel­e­brate the 100th anniver­sary of the patent for the world’s first high-speed resis­tor-type tap-chang­er.
