Easily Regulated

The new TAPCON® 230 voltage regulator is the answer to digitalization and the energy transition and is ready for any future challenges.

With the rising number of dispersed sources of energy, the risk of the voltage leaving the tolerance band is increasing. At the same time, the challenges facing power grid operators—such as tight budgets and understaffed plants—are more diverse than ever. All difficult circumstances aside—one thing is certain: The transformers must always provide a constant voltage, even with varying loads and increasing demands in the grid.

This is where voltage regulators step in to control how and the precise time at which the on-load tap-changer has to adjust the winding ratio. With the TAPCON® series, Reinhausen has offered a device for measuring, controlling, regulating, and monitoring the line voltage for 50 years. Applications range from very simple to very complex—such as regulating three-winding transformers, transformer banks, phase shifters, or shunt reactors.

50years
of voltage regulation experience is incorporated in the new TAPCON® 230.

The new TAPCON® 230 voltage regulator generation is fit for the future: MR experts have improved both hardware and software functions and created a new design. As Product Manager Tobias Gruber emphasizes: “Our development incorporates not only decades of expertise, but also—above all other factors—our customers’ feedback.” The result is a device that is much easier to handle in all operational phases ranging from planning, installation, and commissioning to operation. “The current operating state and measured values are indicated clearly on the display and the device is very easy and intuitive to operate and configure. This eliminates the need to train staff,” explains Tobias Gruber.

THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS
from all over the world are already loyal fans of our TAPCON® technology

The new regulation algorithms can be added as standard and are specially adapted to the dynamics arising from the process of integrating renewable sources of energy. Operators can access the device at any time via their web browser without requiring any additional software. Updates and upgrades can be downloaded via the MR customer portal. This means that the TAPCON® 230 can easily be adapted to new grid requirements.

TAPCON® series devices have already been sold.

Depending on the communication variant selected, all available communication protocols are now included. In other words, it is possible to connect to the control room at any time. “During the design phase, we took into account all applicable IT security regulations in accordance with the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) white paper and had them audited by external auditors. The system is therefore protected to the maximum possible extent against attacks.”
