With the largest investment initiative in its history, Reinhausen is setting a decisive course for the future. The goal: to double global capacity by 2030. The focus is on short lead times, maximum delivery reliability, exceptional quality, and maximum flexibility.

In addition to increasing staff, making production more flexible, and leveraging international resources, testing technology is being digitized and automation is being prioritized. Using Regensburg as an example, we highlight two key components of this development: the expanded Materials Management Center (MWZ) and the new semi-automated production line for the ECOTAP® VPD®. The MWZ forms the backbone of the supply chain – highly automated, with safety stock, and designed to deliver materials to production quickly and reliably. This creates digitized and stable processes that provide customers with supply security even in dynamic markets.

At the same time, the VPD line is taking manufacturing to a new level with automated, digitally networked processes that ensure speed, transparency, and reproducible quality. The materials management center stocks inventory worth around 90 million euros, and items are made available within four hours. This speeds up production processing while the high degree of automation ensures consistent quality and maximum reliability. Reinhausen also has the future in mind – the warehouse can be expanded in a modular, demand-driven manner.

On the new line for the ECOTAP® VPD®, all production processes are finely tuned to one another and integrated into a seamless unit to minimize errors and increase process reliability. Camera systems detect even the smallest deviations early on and ensure scalable, reproducible quality.
More automation
Automation cells handle 41 percent of the assembly time and ensure consistent quality and speed. The line can be flexibly adapted to increasing production volumes by duplicating the stations.
Maximum digitalization
For each ECOTAP® VPD®, the system records approximately 2,000 data points and thus creates maximum transparency and seamless traceability, analyzes quality, and forms the basis for data-driven production optimization.
Smart tools
Self-forming screws and “design for automation” reduce the number of components and simplify assembly – for more efficient processes and better automation capability.

New Plant in Italy
Reinhausen is also consistently expanding its capacities internationally. In Italy, a key future project is taking shape with the new facility in Carpiano (Milan) of the Reinhausen subsidiary Cedaspe S.r.l. which develops and manufactures specialized components for distribution and power transformers. Construction began with the laying of the cornerstone in early 2026, and work is currently progressing rapidly. The topping-out ceremony on 23 April marked an important milestone and the site is scheduled to be fully operational starting in September 2026.

The new site will consolidate production and administration in one location, thereby laying the foundation for more efficient workflows, shorter distances, and closer integration of processes. The goal is to expand production capacity, strengthen customer proximity, and thus better meet the market’s growing demands.
At the same time, the project aligns with the REINHAUSEN Group’s sustainability goals. In addition to modern, resource-efficient structures, the Cedaspe team is also actively promoting the involvement of local partners and institutions as part of a social value project.
