MR is more“50 percent of the world’s electricity consumption already flows through Reinhausen products.”

For Holger Michalka, Managing Director of Reinhausen, this is both an incentive and a responsibility. That’s why the Reinhausen Group is constantly diversifying and offering a growing range of solutions.

Mr. Michalka, MR operates globally, and 80 percent of your products are exported. How are you currently experiencing the energy industry?

We live in a transforming world where change processes have accelerated massively in all areas, especially since the COVID19 pandemic and subsequent events. Organizations and supply chains are therefore extremely challenged in their resilience, as they are the foundations for delivery capability and reliable partnerships. Awareness of the need for the energy transition has risen sharply internationally over the past four years. And since all megatrends need electricity, it will continue to be a definite topic of the future.

Energy availability is a key issue worldwide. How does MR deal with this challenge?

If current forecasts are to be believed, electricity demand will double in the next 20 years. This will require enormous investments in infrastructure as well as major improvements in the performance of global grids. In many places, the infrastructure is not up to future requirements and must now be expanded rapidly. We see ourselves as a central point of contact for our customers, and deliver a wide range of solutions and services – all from a single source.

With our “MR is more” campaign, we have strengthened our global supply chains with local modification centers and logistics centers that enable us to deliver quickly and directly. This is demonstrated, for example, by our HUB in Brazil, which makes our availability to our local customers even faster. Ultimately, it’s all about making our customers even more efficient and therefore more successful – and that goes down well.

“We at the Reinhausen Group see ourselves as paving the way to the future.”

Holger Michalka, MR Managing Director

Keyword “MR is more” — what is behind the campaign?

50 percent of the world’s electricity consumption already flows through Reinhausen products. Nevertheless, we are predominantly known for our portfolio of high-quality on-load tap-changers. We are very proud of the know-how we have built up over decades in this field, but we want to show our customers that MR is more! We at the Reinhausen Group see ourselves as pioneers into the future, because in addition to our proven on-load tap-changer portfolio, we offer complete product and system solutions for distribution and power transformers under the motto “Everything for the transformer.”

This includes temperature indicators and protection devices such as Buchholz relays, as well as porcelain and silicone bushings and intelligent sensors, such as for DGA and other applications. Digital services, such as our Remote Service and asset management solutions like TESSA® APM®, round off our single-source product portfolio. This ensures constant availability throughout the entire product life cycle and enables our customers to efficiently manage the digital and physical transformations.

Transformation and crises, everything is currently in flux. How does the future look for MR? Where do you see your company?

Our mission – our target picture – is clearly stated: “Superior solutions for manufacturers and operators of critical equipment to control load flow and voltage quality in resilient power grids.” We are sticking to this and orienting ourselves to it, regardless of any crises. We have defined and are implementing the necessary fields of action and transformation measures. In the process, the Reinhausen Group is increasingly diversifying around its core portfolio of on-load tap-changers and integrating more and more products and services from its subsidiaries.

Internally and externally, we are becoming simpler and more digital. Digital business models with new services will increasingly enrich and complement traditional business and I am quite certain that this will give rise to new value-creation partnerships. The Reinhausen Group will master the global energy transition through intelligent products and services such as our MESSKO® MTRAB® with NFC or our MSENSE® DGA.

With our locations, our employees, our know-how, our ideas and our passion for the future, I believe we are excellently positioned to do so. There is still a lot to do, but the first steps toward the future have been taken. It’s up to us to pick up the pace even more. Let’s accelerate!
