Thanks to good main­te­nance and reg­u­lar ser­vice, this MR M‑type tap chang­er has been oper­at­ing for over 50 years in a pow­er plant in Turkey. Turk­ish ser­vice tech­ni­cians dis­cov­ered the trans­former con­tain­ing the tap chang­er dur­ing an assign­ment. Even after half a cen­tu­ry, it con­tin­ues to work reli­ably and with­out lim­i­ta­tions.

The ser­vice tech­ni­cians from the MR sub­sidiary MR do Brazil are very famil­iar with main­tain­ing old tap chang­ers. Thanks to their expe­ri­ence and the orig­i­nal parts they keep in stock, the team ensures that even aging equip­ment con­tin­ues to oper­ate reli­ably. They ser­viced a par­tic­u­lar­ly old unit in Cana­da: For 66 years, an MR C‑type mod­el has been oper­at­ing there.
