Reason for hope

In Geretsried, Upper Bavaria, the energy company Eavor is setting new standards in geothermal energy with its Eavor-Loop™. In the world’s first closed-loop geothermal power plant, water circulates through a complex tunnel system at a depth of more than four kilometers, where it absorbs heat from the surrounding rock. Back at the surface, it can be fed into the district heating network or used to generate electricity. The approach does not require thermal water, making it location-independent and flexible in its application. The project in Geretsried can save around 44,000 tons of CO2 annually and supply up to 8.2 megawatts of electrical or 64 megawatts of thermal energy.

Reinhausen is also contributing to the energy transition with its solutions.

Eavor-Loop™ can feed the energy it captures directly into a district heating network via a heat exchanger.
