Ener­gy sup­pli­ers today face a mul­ti­tude of chal­lenges because in many sub­sta­tions, trans­form­ers, sys­tems, and com­po­nents are increas­ing­ly reach­ing a crit­i­cal age. At the same time, the strain caused by volatile feed-ins from renew­able ener­gies is increas­ing, and the ongo­ing elec­trifi­ca­tion of the trans­port and heat­ing sec­tors is adding to the pres­sure. In addi­tion, there is a grow­ing short­age of skilled per­son­nel and increas­ing cost pres­sure. Ensur­ing a reli­able and secure pow­er sup­ply in this com­plex sit­u­a­tion is no easy task for respon­si­ble employ­ees. 

With MR Ser­vice Solu­tions, Rein­hausen offers a broad port­fo­lio of ser­vices that sup­ports ener­gy sup­pli­ers in mas­ter­ing these increased require­ments. The range of ser­vices goes far beyond clas­sic on-load tap-chang­er ser­vice to cov­er the entire life cycle of trans­form­ers, and also extends to solu­tions for entire sub­sta­tions. The advan­tage: With com­pre­hen­sive ser­vice from a sin­gle source, asset man­agers can reduce the com­plex­i­ty of their diverse tasks, low­er costs, and min­i­mize risks because the oper­a­tional reli­a­bil­i­ty and avail­abil­i­ty of equip­ment increas­es. MR also o«ers cus­tomized per­for­mance con­tracts that are indi­vid­u­al­ly tai­lored to the needs of grid oper­a­tors.  

For one hun­dred years, Rein­hausen has been mak­ing a sig­nifi­cant con­tri­bu­tion to a sta­ble ener­gy sup­ply with its prod­ucts and solu­tions. If nec­es­sary, Remote Ser­vice can be used at any time to pro­vide advice or car­ry out inspec­tions remote­ly using a smart­phone or tablet. Even minor repairs can be car­ried out with this expert online guid­ance.

These ser­vices cov­er the entire life cycle of a trans­former. MR sup­ports oper­a­tors from instal­la­tion and com­mis­sion­ing with detailed elec­tri­cal tests, through rou­tine and oil ser­vices, to com­pre­hen­sive con­di­tion assess­ment with TESSA® FLEETSCAN 2D. This allows weak points to be iden­tified and elim­i­nat­ed at an ear­ly stage, before fail­ures occur. If nec­es­sary, MR car­ries out mod­ern­iza­tion mea­sures on var­i­ous com­po­nents of the trans­former or installs new assem­blies such as con­trol and mon­i­tor­ing sys­tems to bring the trans­former up to date and extend its ser­vice life.

With its sub­sta­tion ser­vices, MR is grad­u­al­ly expand­ing its port­fo­lio to include oth­er equip­ment in the sub­sta­tion. This includes, for exam­ple, con­di­tion assess­ment, repair, and mod­ern­iza­tion ser­vices for cir­cuit break­ers and switchgear, right through to bus­bars. MR can draw on many years of exper­tise in this area: In the USA, Rein­hausen Man­u­fac­tur­ing has been o«ering turnkey con­struc­tion of com­plete sub­sta­tions for some time, and in Turkey, instal­la­tions and main­te­nance work in sub­sta­tions have also been part of the MR subsidiary’s reper­toire for many years. Sub­sta­tion oper­a­tors world­wide benefit from this expert knowl­edge from the Rein­hausen net­work.

With clas­sic ser­vices relat­ed to on-load tap-chang­ers, MR ser­vice tech­ni­cians ensure that the heart of every trans­former func­tions trou­ble-free for decades. The core of the ser­vice port­fo­lio is main­te­nance, repair, and inspec­tion, sup­ple­ment­ed by a reli­able sup­ply of spare parts. MR also offers prac­ti­cal train­ing for cus­tomers at its train­ing cen­ters around the world. In addi­tion, there are retrofit and mod­ern­iza­tion solu­tions, such as con­vert­ing from oil to vac­u­um tech­nol­o­gy, which extend the ser­vice life of trans­form­ers and sig­nifi­cant­ly reduce main­te­nance costs. Inno­v­a­tive ser­vices such as vibroa­coustic mea­sure­ments (VAM) are also part of the port­fo­lio. 

Digital refurbishment

With its “Dig­i­tal Refur­bish­ment” ser­vice, MR extends the ser­vice life of transformers–a key lever for sta­bi­liz­ing grids. To retrofit trans­form­ers with dig­i­tal tech­nol­o­gy, MR offers a broad port­fo­lio of mon­i­tor­ing solu­tions for record­ing oper­at­ing data such as oil qual­i­ty, tem­per­a­tures, and gas devel­op­ment. MR experts pro­vide indi­vid­ual advice on which dig­i­tal­iza­tion solu­tion makes sense and pro­vide sup­port dur­ing instal­la­tion and com­mis­sion­ing. They also pre­pare the data obtained in an under­stand­able way and trans­late it into clear rec­om­men­da­tions for action. The dig­i­tal upgrade enables oper­a­tors to bet­ter con­trol and mon­i­tor their trans­form­ers and even extend their ser­vice lives.
