The global demand for transformers and energy technology is enormous. Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen has therefore launched an investment offensive to significantly expand its global production capacities.
Electricity grids are being massively expanded around the world, and the demand for MR’s products and solutions is growing accordingly. In order to best meet the needs of its customers, the company has taken a number of measures to speed up production and delivery. Managing Director Holger Michalka explains: “Ac-celerating our delivery performance and reducing delivery times is a key part of our investment strategy. To this end, we are globalizing our value chains and synchronizing our capacities with new market requirements around the world. In the current super cycle in the energy sector, our on-load tap-changers play a decisive role and must be available to our customers in the known quality and within a reasonable time.
With this in mind, we are also implementing partial localization of individual value creation stages throughout the supply chain. This approach, which is generally referred to as “glocalization”, is essential given that over 92 % of MR’s sales volume is generated outside Germany. Our investment program amounts to a significant three-digit million Euro sum and will take effect over the next four years. In the process, we are seizing all opportunities for transformation, rethinking material flows and implementing energy-efficient as well as AI-supported technologies. The highlight will be our production site in the Haslbach commercial area in Regensburg, where we are almost doubling the space. When completed, we will employ around 1,800 people there.”
This is how we increase our capacities worldwide!

“With MR’s global growth, we have launched a capacity expansion plan for our Suzhou plant. Over the next few years, we will expand production, add new product lines and take on a greater role in the supply chain. This will allow us to speed up deliveries to our Chinese customers and take the pressure off production in Germany.“
